Massive Taiwan Power Outage Today 2022
Authorities said they expect the outage, which was caused by a failed transmission cable, to last until at least Saturday morning. Taiwan was affected by a massive blackout this week, but fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported. Last week, multiple mobile phone providers in Taiwan reported that they couldn’t provide a service. Subsequently, the power failed and communication services failed across Taiwan. Without the use of either LTE or 3G, some also reported that the loss of power caused mobile data to drop out. At the time no consolation was given as to why this has happened but it was mentioned that the fault lay with private enterprise. Taiwan suffered a massive blackout this past weekend affecting millions of homes and businesses. The blackout, which lasted 9 hours, left more than 5 million households and over 200,000 businesses without power. Taipei Electric Company officials did not offer any explanation for the cause of the outage and stated that they hoped to have it resolved within two to three days. There was a massive power outage in Taiwan that left over five million residents without electricity Tuesday afternoon, according to the Central News Agency. The power outage began at 4:15 p.m. which interrupted the supply of power and caused the electrical grid to become unstable. Taiwan was hit with a massive power outage that left more than half the country without electricity on Thursday. Power has since been restored to many parts of the country and efforts are ongoing to get everything up and running as quickly as possible. The majority of Taiwan was affected before power was restored around noon on Friday. Some 4 million households lost electricity, including Taipei and New Taipei Cities, Taoyuan and Hsinchu Counties, and the northern half of the island. The government estimates that the blackout cost the economy NT$30 billion (US$1.05 billion).
